Haltiala Farm

Haltiala Farm: A date with Finnish nature

The experience of living in Finland would have been incomplete without a coup d’œil of its farm life. In search of a perfect spot to do so, I had stumbled upon this beautiful place called Haltiala Farm near Helsinki. As expected, this place happens to offer an ideal excuse for a day out amidst nature. Then, I also got to read about it through a fellow blogger’s post on this particular farm.

I was instantly sold on the idea of exploring it on a weekend given the right weather conditions and the sun god just did me the favour today.

The place is easy to reach and the entry is absolutely free. So if you are in Helsinki during the summer months make it a point to add Haltiala Farm to your must-visits list. Just spread a sheet anywhere you fancy and enjoy a picnic basket.

I am more than happy that I finally decided to go there. There couldn’t be a better way to appreciate the Finnish summer season than by admiring the quiet of nature near a gurgling river and acres of farm land surrounding it.

Do the summer happy, super chirpy birds need any mentioning too?

Haltiala Farm has different farm animals, wood sawing mills, barns, a play area for kids as well as a beautiful restaurant with outdoor sitting arrangements. So apart from the sweet smell of the blooming apple trees, you can’t miss the aroma of grilled sausages floating in the air. Instead of buying food, you can cook your own by using their free grill too. But you have to bring your own supplies including the coal of course.

If all of these aren’t enough, I hear that this place is filled with blooming sunflowers and green peas towards the end of summer. Even better, they let you pick some for your home for absolutely free. But look for the free sign before jumping on it.

So I am definitely going to come back here by the end of August to get myself clicked in a sunflower field. Till then, I hope you enjoy these photos. Happy summers to you all.
